A strange mist hangs low on the horizon and blurs the distant shapes. This road goes on forever. The driver in the car knows they have to keep driving, have to get to their next stop and set up camp, but time is at a standstill. It is just them, the car, and the encroaching darkness.
[[Keep driving.]]The mist turns a darker grey, and then darker still.
[[Turn the car lights on.]]Beams of light cut through the darkness. Things that were visible before suddenly wrap themselves in shadow, and the whole world narrows to the small patch of road in front of the car, and some shrubbery just beyond. There are no other cars on the road. There have been no other cars for quite some time.
[[Keep driving.->Keep driving.2]]The music coming from the car speakers sounds staticky from time to time. At first the driver thinks nothing of it, but then they remember they aren't listening to the radio. The moment they realise this the static stops.
The hairs on their arms rise up.

[[Start]] | [[Night Hotel]]There's something out there, far ahead of the car.
An oasis of light in the unending shadowscape, getting slowly closer, the only indication of time and space passing. The driver was squinting to try and make out the sign, but now they're not. It is still too far ahead to be seen.
The driver keeps driving.
